Marc Bochner and Richard Petronelli- Kuntao Jiu Jitsu Guide to Realistic Self DefenseThis is one of the better martial arts systems for self defensive I have seen presented on DVD in about a year or so. It reminds me of Krav Maga for its no bullshit directness. There are a great many real world applicable fighting moves one can take away- and practice- from seeing this course. Hell the bonus DDV (number 6) and the tip on using a roll or duct tape/packing tape as a pair of ‘brass knuckles’ is dead on! When I was a teen and lived in some shitty neighborhoods I learned that trick and knocked a guy out using that. I was skinny kid too… Tall, but not quite 16 and I was not into weight lifting and strength training like I am now. Seeing that trick shown took me back. It also just confirmed what I knew from seeing the DVDs that this martial arts crew were legit with what they showed in terms of self defense instructions. I knew the DVDs would be solid when, not too far into the first disc, the instructor said as he showed a clinch grapple that “you do not want to be wresting w/ a guy in a street fight.” This is a very skilled JJ player (jiu jitsu) and to hear him tell the truth that while u get on with one in a grapple his pals will come in or if you are looking to see who will come, he will take control! That is 180 degrees from most BJJ/JJ self defensive on DVD or in live courses that is geared to MMA and not real life fighting. BJJ (and western catch) pwns one on one in a ring with a ref and rules… on the pavement its a toss up. I paid good money for a four day BJJ boot camp once (not that long ago) and I learned a lot of good info but one disappointment was when someone asked about fighting many guys the instructor there said just grab one and put him in a lock and ‘his pals will be too scared of what u can do to attack you.’Myself and five others laughed and said that was BS. We looked at each other and just shook our heads. They would just kick the fuck out of u for being wrapped up with their pal. The teacher did not answer that and just went on with drills and showing combination movements of one hold to another. LMAO! Thank god these Kuntao Jiu Jitsu teachers do not have that fogged and deluded mindset on their DVDs- they get to the facts! I recall seeing a dude in a brawl outside a club take down a guy with a double leg tackle and then get him in a text book arm lock. Then he got knocked out when two other guys ran up on him, while he was still holding the guys arm, and they kicked his head and neck! Not funny buy LOL on him for thinking this was some fair match fight. This DVD does show lots of valid JJ and grappling moves to tho. It has awareness training, ground striking and stand up striking and lots of JJ moves. All useful ones I might add. Unlike many BJJ/JJ DVD sets this one has vital point hits too. If u are attacked it shows knee, groin, eye and throat hits- followed by escape or more hits/take downs to end the fight. One of the nastiest (empty handed- no weapons) fights I saw come to an end was in Memphis, TN when one guy (again some MMA/BJJ guy so I supposed by the looks of how he moved) tripped a guy and brought him down. Instead of leaving or kicking the guy on the floor and then running he got on the fallen man in a mount and was looking to pound him that way. Then the one on top starts yelling in pain and he rolls to the side. The dude on the bottom rolls too and has the top level guy’s face held like a fucking bowling ball! Fingers in eyes and one ear is gouged and gripped… a literal bloody mess. There was no UFC ref to break it up and take off a point now! Yikes! No kimura, no rubber guard, no omoplata… just humans being unkind to each other in some gross but hard core fighting. This DVD shows tons or real JJ techniques to use if some one is in ur guard or if u are on different mounts. It also shows, in addition to those, ripping and eye hits and small joint manipulation (banned in MMA/BJJ BTW) techniques as well more to give u the most tools to use in a fight. It incorporates them very well. It covers scenarios of violence and weapons defense and so much more. Is it loaded with honest marital arts wisdom. You want to know how bad ass this set is? They have a teacher WHO IS IN A WHEELCHAIR as part of their school. A dude in a wheelchair can kick ass and defense his personal safety with his schools move sets and teachings… that says volumes! The first DVD has a music loop for four minutes and then shows the trailer from the website set to more music. Its good rock music too BTW. I ripped all that was on each disc that is why its there. Then the DVD instruction starts. All the rest of the discs are just lessons and drills and hints and useful info. This was worth the money getting and watching IMO. This is very useful to view. Nothing can guarantee u that u will not get fucked up in a street fight- this can’t make u Superman – but its very solid.Quote:Kuntao Jiu-Jitsu: Your DVD Guide to Realistic Self-DefenseTable of ContentsDVD DetailsDVD 1: Concepts, Striking, Clinching, Striking Combinations, Vital AreasChapter One: Main objective In Self-DefenseChapter Two: Self-Defense vs. Fighting AltercationsChapter Three: Two Categories of a Self-Defense SituationChapter Four: Stages of a Self-Defense SituationChapter Five: Ranges of a Self-Defense SituationChapter Six: Hand/Elbow StrikesChapter Seven: Leg/Knee StrikesChapter Eight: ClinchingChapter Nine: Striking CombinationsChapter Ten: Vital Areas of the Human BodyDVD 2: Stepping, Ukemi (Rolls/Falls), Judo Throws, TakedownsChapter One: Essential SteppingNon-Threatening PositionV Stepping (1-5,Triangle SteppingX SteppingStar SteppingPaqua SteppingChapter Two: UkemiFront Break FallBack Break FallSide Break FallShoulder RollsChapter Three: Judo ThrowsMajor Hip ThrowMajor Shoulder ThrowMajor Inner ReapMajor Outer ReapChapter Four: TakedownsSingle Leg TakedownFront Shoulder TakedownAround The Back TakedownDVD 3: Jiu-Jitsu Joint Manipulations, Chokes, Street Grappling, Rape PreventionChapter One: Jiu-Jitsu Joint LocksKote-GaeshiKote-MawashiSankyo (Kote-Hineri)Ground ManipulationsChapter Two: Choking TechniquesRear Naked ChokeGuillotineAdaptationCarotid ChokeFront Naked ChokeChapter Three: Street Grappling (Positions and Locks)MountSide MountGuardHalf GuardJudo Position (Side Headlock)Chapter Four: Rape Prevention TechniquesDVD 4: Set Techniques/Student Created DefensesChapter 1: Te’sChapter 2: Kick DrillsChapter 3: MugginsChapter 4: Double MuggingsChapter 5: Additional Punch DefensesChapter 6: Student Created Defenses (Grab Defenses)Front ChokeBack ChokeSide ChokePulling Wrist GrabDouble Wrist GrabFront Bear HugBack Bear hugHeadlockSingle Lapel GrabDouble Lapel GrabGrab and PunchChair DefenseWall DefenseWall Defense #2Chapter 7: Grabbing Defenses Additional EndingsDVD 5: Strategies Against Trained Adversaries, Stick Defenses, Knife Defenses, Gun Defenses, ScenariosChapter 1 – Defending Against an Untrained AdversaryChapter 2 – Defending Against a Street Figtherchapter 3 – Defending Against a Boxerchapter 4 – Defending Against a Wrestler/GrapplerChapter 5 – Defending Against a KickBoxerChapter 6 – Arnis Stick FightingHolding the Arnis StickFive Angles of AttackArnis Flowing DrillTwelve Points of AttackDouble SinawalliFlowing Drill #3Flowing Drill #4Flowing Drill #5Combining Flowing DrillsChapter 7 -Stick vs. Stick DisarmsChapter 8 – Stick vs. Empty Hand DisarmsChapter 9 – Knife SurvivalFlowing With the KnifeKnife vs. Knife DefenseKnife vs. Empty Hand DefensesKnife Scenario 1Knife Scenario 2Chapter 10 – Gun SurvivalRedirecting the GunGun to forehead Defense#1Gun to forehead Defense#2Gun to stomach DefenseGun to back of the head defenseGun to the side of the head defenseChapter 11 – Verbal DefusingChapter 12 – Club ScenariosChapter 13 – Elevator ScenariosChapter 14 – Street ScenariosDVD 6: Bonus Footage Chapter 1: Soke-Dai Bochner BlackBelt ExaminationChapter 2: Professor Bruce DiTraglia – University SeminarChapter 3: Seminar – Blackships Festival, Newport, Rhode IslandChapter 4: BloopersAmazon link with reviews:http://www.amazon.com/Kuntao-Jiu-Jitsu-Realistic-Self-Defens…Main site:http://www.kuntaojiujitsu.comDVD page with link to trailer:http://www.kuntaojiujitsu.com/merchandise.htmAll trusted can DL now.
